Melvin Gordon has finally found a new home. After spending the first five years of his career with the Chargers, Melvin Gordon will now be suiting up for the Broncos in the mile-high city.
Melvin Gordon Signs With Broncos
The contract is a two-year deal worth $16 million with $13.5 million in guaranteed money. Gordon reportedly had a better offer on the table but playing against the Chargers twice a year was seen as a positive.
Gordon was unhappy with his contract with the Chargers before the 2019 season started. He decided to hold out through week four of the regular season where he made his season debut against his new team.
The holdout caused Gordon to be rusty when he decided to join the team in late-September. His first 100-yard game wasn’t until week 10 when the Chargers played the Raiders.
The Denver Broncos now have a three-headed backfield of Gordon, Phillip Lindsay, and Royce Freeman. This should be a very dynamic group of players for head coach Vic Fangio.
This move also means that every running back that was drafted in 2015 is on a different team than where they were drafted.
