Former NFL GM States: Tua Tagovailoa Failed Two Physicals

Recent news from former NFL General Manager of the Cleveland Browns, Michael Lombardi, has exposed Tua Tagovailoa of his recent two failed physicals.

Two Failed Physicals

Michael Lombardi is the former NFL General Manager for the Cleveland Browns. He stated on Wednesday that Tua Tagovailoa failed two physicals with two NFL teams. Tua has some unknown wrist injuries which were revealed at the physical.

“What they saw… it’s not just his hip. It’s his ankle. It’s his wrist,” Lombardi stated on his podcast, “The GM Shuffle.” “He broke his wrist the first day of spring ball one year. And then they fixed it and he came back, and he rebroke it again. He’s brittle. He is brittle. You can’t deny it.”

What Does This Mean for the Miami Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins own the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and it has been widely known they were looking at Tua. The newly learned injury history of Tua is making it more of a risk for the Dolphins to draft Tua. We also learned that Tua suffered high ankle sprains in both 2018 and 2019 and both of these injuries required surgeries. Tua has looked healthy throughout the draft process and he does not seem like he will get hurt, but it is still a risk. He is still 22 years old and has a lot of time to be able to prove himself as a starter in the NFL. Overall it may be a good move for Miami to draft a quarterback with one of there late first-round picks and instead draft an offensive tackle with the fifth overall pick.
