The Dolphins have the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. There have been many speculations that the Dolphins will draft a quarterback in the first round. Josh Rosen will have a chance to compete for the starting position in training camp and preseason, but does he have a chance to be the starter?
Background
Josh Rosen was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the tenth pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was rushed into being the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. After he was drafted Rosen leads the Cardinals to a 3-13 record and was traded right after the Cardinals drafted Kyler Murray. Ryan Fitzpatrick was the main starter for the Dolphins, but they let Rosen play a few regular-season games. Overall in the three games, Rosen he went 0-3 and was benched for the rest of the season. Going into the 2020 season Rosen is in a position where he may get traded or cut from the Miami Dolphins since they are interested in drafting a quarterback in the first round. Rosen has some upside to his game and some downside since he has entered the league in 2018.

Pros and Cons of Josh Rosen
Josh Rosen has only been in the NFL for a couple of seasons and has few, but some positives in his game. First, he is a young quarterback and has lots of time to develop his game. Rosen is only 23 years old, which is the same age as Joe Burrow. Honestly, Rosen hasn’t had the offense or the team to be able to bring out the best of him. On the other hand, Rosen has thrown many more interceptions than touchdowns in his career. Second, Rosen is 3-16 so far in the NFL, which for any player is terrible. Third, he has not thrown more than 3,000 yards in his career over 19 starts, which is disappointing, to say the least.
Conclusion
If Rosen wants any chance of starting this season he will have to compete during training camp. If the Dolphins draft at least one quarterback then most likely Rosen will have to attempt to not get cut. Rosen has a decent chance to start next season, but will not just be handed the starting position. He will have to beat out Fitzpatrick and whoever the Dolphins draft with there picks. Rosen will be entering the 2020 season with two years on his contract, so he has some time to prove himself to the Dolphins organization. Rosen may get traded before the beginning of next season to a team that needs a quarterback and he will have to compete for any starting position in the NFL.
