Tarvaris Jackson Passes Away at 36
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, he died in a car accident in his home town of Alabama.
Tarvaris Jackson was drafted in the NFL in 2006 by the Minnesota Vikings with the 64th pick in the second round. When he arrived in Minnesota, he quickly took the starting job. During his second year, Jackson started in 12 regular seasons and finished the year 8-4. During his five years in Minnesota, he was 10-10.
Then in 2011, he signed with the Seattle Seahawks and just like with the Vikings, he immediately became the starting quarterback. He went 7-7 in his only season in Seattle and in 2012 he was traded to the Buffalo Bills.
After spending only one season in Buffalo, he was back in Seattle but with a different role. He was signed to back up now starting quarterback Russell Wilson. During his first year back with the Seahawks, Jackson earned a Super Bowl ring.
Following the 2015 season, he retired at age 32. Most recently Jackson was an offensive analyst and a quarterback coach for two schools. Alabama State and Tennessee State.
In his career, Jackson is 17-17, 39 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions
