New 2020 MLB Divisions May Help the Colorado Rockies

MLB is proposing to make new divisions for the 2020 season. This new division that the Colorado Rockies would be in would combine the NL West and the AL West. This is a huge change in the League and it might actually work out for the Rockies. Even after some disappointing seasons, this is a huge bounce-back opportunity for the Rockies.

New 2020 MLB Divisions: Colorado Rockies

Colorado Rockies: Old Faces, New Friends

The Colorado Rockies have faced teams in the AL West several times in the last two seasons. In 2018, they went 2-2 against Houston, 2-2 against the Angels, 3-0 against the A"s, 5-1 against Seattle, and 1-2 against Texas. Then, in 2019, the Colorado Rockies went 0-4 against Houston.

Last year wasn"t good for the Rockies, but in 2018, you can see they really held their own against the teams in the AL West. Also, during that year, they went 7-13 against the Dodgers. This shows that maybe mixing up the competition may be good for the Colorado Rockies and if they tasted success in the past they might be able to do it again.

Quick Out of the Blocks

The Colorado Rockies have been a very hot team at the beginning of their seasons. In 2018, they had a .531 winning percentage for the first half of the season. In 2019, even with the horrible 71-91 record, they still had a .494 winning percentage in the first half. Then, in September of 2018, the Colorado Rockies percentage was .679 for the month and in 2019 it was .480. So this team knows how to start fast and finish the season. With the season shortened, this might help them take out those few bad months that bring their winning percentage down.

Unpredictable Season

We will have to see what the MLB will do with this crazy upcoming season. Already, no one could have predicted the start that we had, so what is going to come up is completely unpredictable. The only thing good about this is that teams like the Rockies have a fresh start. Last year wasn"t what they had planned, so now that this year is going to be a wildcard, anything is open, even new divisions. It will be nice to see some different teams and to see if they go along with this plan how the playoffs will be affected. Overall, I am excited about the new divisions and want to get back to the park!
