The Miami Dolphins have had some unlucky quarterback luck in the 2010’s decade. Most of the quarterbacks on the roster have been journeymen and veterans. Here are the top five quarterbacks for the Miami Dolphins in the 2010’s decade.
Number 5: Chad Henne (2010 – 2011)
Chad Henne started for the Miami Dolphins in 2010 (14 Games) and 2011 (4 Games). In his 18 games as a starter for the Dolphins Henne had a record of 6 – 12. Also, in his two years as the starter, in the 2010’s decade, Henne threw 4,169 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 23 touchdowns. In 2011, Mel Kipper, draft analysis, said “Henne is still suffering from the same problems with accuracy as he did in college, which most likely caused him to slip so low in the draft.” Henne was not an impressive quarterback in the NFL for the Dolphins and proved to not be a future starter. Overall, Henne was a decent starter for the Dolphins but never lived up to the potential or hype he was supposed to reach.

Number 4: Jay Cutler (2017)
Jay Cutler started for the Miami Dolphins in 2017 for 14 games. In his 14 games as the starter for the Dolphins, he had a record of 6 – 8. In 2017 as the starting quarterback, for the Dolphins, Cutler threw 2,666 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He was at the end of his NFL career at 34 years old, but for one season with the Dolphins, he still played well. Cutler was filling in for, the injured, Ryan Tannehill in 2017. Right after the NFL 2017 regular season, Cutler retired from the NFL as a Dolphin. Overall, Cutler had a decent season with the Dolphins as he filled in for Tannehill, but he was nothing special.
Number 3: Ryan Fitzpatrick (2019)
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been one of the most known journeymen in the NFL since the Dolphins are his eighth team. Fitzpatrick started for the Miami Dolphins in 2019 for 13 games. In his 13 games as the starter for the Dolphins, he had a record of 5 – 8. He was brought in as the starter in 2019 after a good season with the Buccaneers. In his one season as the starter, Fitzpatrick threw 3,529 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Same as Cutler, Fitzpatrick is at the end of his career reaching 37 years old, which is the oldest among Dolphins quarterbacks on this list. Fitzpatrick is projected to start for the beginning of the season in 2020 until Tua Tagovailoa will become the starter. Overall, Fitzpatrick played an amazing season, even though he was on a terrible team last season.

Number 2: Matt Moore (2012 – 2017)
Matt Moore was a long time back up quarterback for Ryan Tannehill, but before Tannehill, he was the starter. Moore started for the Miami Dolphins in 2011 (12 Games), 2016 (3 Games), and 2017 (2 Games). In his 17 games as the starter, Moore threw 4,298 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions. Also, in his 17 games as a starter, Moore’s record was 8 – 9, which is the second-best among Dolphins quarterbacks in the 2010’s decade. Moore filled in for, an injured, Tannehill in a couple of seasons he played for the Dolphins. Overall, Moore was a decent starter for the Dolphins, but he also was a reliable back up quarterback for the whole season.

Number 1: Ryan Tannehill (2012 – 2018)
Ryan Tannehill was destined to be the long time starter for the Dolphins, but, as we saw with the Titans, the Dolphins never utilized him correctly. Tannehill started for the Miami Dolphins from 2012 – 2018 (88 Games). Tannehill, completely, destroys each of the 2010’s stats for quarterbacks in the decade. In his games as a starter, Tannehill threw 20,434 passing yards, 123 touchdowns, and 75 interceptions. Also, in Tannehill’s career with the Dolphins, his record was 42 – 46 as a starting quarterback. The Miami Dolphins drafted Tannehill in 2012 with the eighth overall pick. Tannehill dealt with injuries in 2016, missing three games, 2017, missing the whole season, and 2018, missing five games. Overall, Tannehill played the best career among all Dolphins quarterbacks, but since being traded to the Dolphins he has seen an uprise in his career.
