Willie Cauley-Stein to sit out NBA Playoffs

Shams Charania announced early this afternoon that Dallas Mavericks center Willie Cauley-Stein will not be traveling to Orlando with Dallas. Cauley-Stein joins Trevor Ariza, Davis Bertans and Avery Bradley as the players to opt not to travel to Orlando. Cauley-Stein and his wife are expecting their first child shortly. The absence of Willie Cauley-Stein will likely give fan-favorite Boban Marjonavic increased minutes.

Seconds after it was reported Cauley-Stein will be sitting out, Shams reported that the Mavericks signed free agent guard Trey Burke for the rest of the season. Despite playing well, Burke got waived by the 76ers in February. The former first round pick averaged almost six points a game this season in the 25 games that he played. The twenty-seven-year-old will be a nice addition to the roster in the playoffs, providing bench scoring and veteran experience. It will be interesting to see what Burke can provide for the Mavericks once the playoffs begin.
