Five Clutch Bruins Players In PostSeason History

With the NHL Season about to resume, it’s time to talk playoff hockey. The team has already earned the Presidents Cup to show for their efforts. Head coach Bruce Cassidy is already dealing with health issues regarding the Bruins. In this post, we will look at Five Clutch Bruins Players in Postseason history.

Tim Thomas

As a Bruins fan, it’s hard to forget the season Tim Thomas had in 2011. Thomas put together a magnificent performance in the playoffs. His efforts gave the Bruins their first Stanley Championship in forty years.

His acrobatic saves will stay with Bruins fans forever. When it comes to clutch performances occurred, night after night. One attribute that Thomas is also noted for is his leadership in the locker room. When he had a subpar performance he always took the blame himself.

Phil Esposito

Known to the fans as Espo, Phil Esposito skated for the Bruins for nine years. Known as a Net Hanger Esposito was also one of the toughest players in the league.

Playoff wise Phil Esposito played in 61 career playoff games. In that span of time he scored 46 playoff goals and 56 assists for for a 102 points. He was one of the key players in the team’s 1970 and 1972 Stanley Cup Championship.

Tuukka Rask

The third player is the winningest goalie In team history. In thirteen seasons, Tuukka Rask has compiled 291 wins and 158 losses. His GAA is an impressive 2.26. Rask’s best season was last year when he led the Bruins to a game seven Stanley Cup loss at the hands of St. Louis Blues.

His durability shows every game with clutch stops at the right time. If the Bruins get to the finals Rask will have to play out of his mind like last season. The Bruins have Rask locked up for another year.

Ray Bourque

One of the greatest ever, Ray Bourque skated for the Bruins for 20 years. During his career, Bourque tallied 410 goals goal and1169 assists for1579 points assists for 286 points. In postseason Ray Bourque played in a total of 180 playoff games. His only Stanley Cup was with the year he spent with Colorado. The only other Stanley Cup chance was in 1990 in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers. His strong work ethic is what is remembered by most Bruins fans.

Patrice Bergeron/ Brad Marchand

This choice is a tossup. Both players are Hall of Fame candidates. Both players were instrumental in the Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup win over Vancouver. In 16 seasons, Patrice Bergeron has accumulated 352 goals and 869 assists for an amazing 1221 points.

Both Bergeron and Brad Marchand and others are the reason why the Bruins have been so successful over the years. They bring the same effort every night.
