Welcome to the Daily Miami Dolphins Notes, on September 1st, 2020. The topics are, Leonard Fournette possibly signing with the Dolphins, five Dolphins players were cut, and more…
Interested In Leonard Fournette?
The Jacksonville Jaguars released, running back, Leonard Fournette on Monday, August 31st. No one has officially claimed Fournette, so he is now a free agent for any team to pick up. Brian Flores was asked about Leonard Fournette, he responded “We look at the waiver wire every day. Chris and his scouting staff will look at it, write a report, and if we feel a player can help us we’ll make a decision.”
Overall, there is no indication that the Dolphins are interested in Fournette.
Elandon Roberts, Possible Fullback?

Elandon Roberts played linebacker and fullback for the Patriots last season after New England lost both full-backs to injuries. Roberts signed with Miami as a linebacker and has a potential chance to start. Also, in an interview with Flores, he was asked about the possible move to full back for Roberts. His response, “It’s a possibility but it’s not something that we’re going to make any definitive decision on right now.” Obviously, Flores does not want to give up any game plans that the Dolphins have put together. Overall, if needed, Roberts could easily play full back, but the Dolphins have Chandler Cox, so they are all set.
Two Dolphins Players Not 100% Healthy

Byron Jones and Jakeem Grant both were working on the sideline today, after both suffering minor injuries. They were still participating in practice, but they were doing their own limitations. Both should be healthy before the beginning of the first game against the New England Patriots. Jones will be the star cornerback on the Dolphins and Grant will either play slot receiver or be the main returner for the Dolphins. Overall, unless their injuries become major, then I doubt either one of these players will miss week one.
Two Dolphins Players Injured and Cannot Practice

The Dolphins are clearly weak at the wide receiver position after losing Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson to opting out this season. Both DeVante Parker and Kirk Merritt were on the sideline today not participating in practice. This leaves only a handful of wide receivers left on the practice field, especially with Grant, not 100%. Same as Jones and Grant, both of these players are expected to be healthy before the beginning of the regular season.
Five Players Released By the Dolphins

Indianapolis Colts Take On The New York Giants At Lucas Oil Stadium
The Miami Dolphins have begun cutting down the roster to a 53-man roster. So far, five players were cut today, but there will be more in the next upcoming days. The first two cuts were recently signed, wide receivers, Chester Rogers and Ricardo Louis. Clearly, some of the younger wide receivers on the Dolphins have proven they belong. The other players cut from the team included former Auburn safety, Jeremiah Dinson, defensive end, Avery Moss, and former XFL star cornerback, Deatrick Nichols. Overall, Dinson and Nichols have a chance to make the practice squad, but everyone else is not going to have a chance.
