Week 16 Wrap Up: Chiefs Clinch With Great Performances on Offense

The Kansas City Chiefs recently won their Week 16 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons to help them clinch the bye for the postseason in the AFC. This game was a little close, and a lot closer than Chiefs fans would have liked. Even with a win, Kansas City had some hiccups in their game.

The offense struggled at times and was stagnant in the first half, with only one score before the third quarter. Even that one touchdown came just seconds before the first half was over. It seemed as if Kansas City could not get the ball in the end zone after putting together a few key plays.

Chiefs Good Performers From Week 16

Darrel Williams, RB

Even though he did not get the start, Darrel Williams came in and did his part, and then some. Le"Veon Bell would get the nod for this game, and rightfully so. This is a guy who was once the best running back in the league just three seasons ago. However, things weren"t going well with Bell running the ball. Therefore, Williams came in and did his thing in Week 16, and led this team in his own right.

On the stat sheet, you won"t find crazy numbers in this game for Williams, but that"s because not everything shows up in the box score. With his highest snap count of the season at 70%, Williams was able to have production when needed.

The former LSU running back had 10 carries on the day for 46 yards while also catching four receptions for 27 yards. Where he really came in clutch was his ability to convert in short-yardage situations. There were several circumstances where Williams was needed to get a first down, and he did. This will be interesting to see next week, as the Chiefs may sit players in the game with the Chargers.

Travis Kelce, TE

The 31-year-old tight end is cementing his name in the history books, again. Time after time, Travis Kelce has been the picture-perfect tight end in the league, and that is not slowing down anytime soon. This season, he has put on a show and shut the haters up about who is really the best in the league.

With a couple of records behind him already, the superstar tight end set a new one in this game. He broke the single-season receiving yards record by a tight end, a statistic that was once held by him but was broken by George Kittle shortly after.

Besides that, Kelce was great when he needed to be, as always. He started the game rough, with a few drops and incompletions thrown his way. However, when he was called upon to help Kansas City get on the board, he came through. Kelce finished with seven receptions to go along with his near 100-yard game.

If Kelce can continue to play like this, the Chiefs offense will be unstoppable, much like they were this time last year. However, in games like this, Kelce can"t be the only guy to go off. It was great to see Kelce set the record in Week 16, but it was not the record he cared the most about.

“The real record I"m proud of, is that this is the first time the Chiefs have ever been 14-1"

After their Week 16 victory, Kelce also stated that he wants to improve their record to 15-1.

Demarcus Robinson, WR

Demarcus Robinson has struggled the last few games and especially last week against New Orleans. His attempted punt return that resulted in a fumble for a safety was maybe one of the worst decisions he has ever made. However, in Week 16, he made up for all that. His touchdown put Kansas City up late, on a route where he made the defender look silly.

As the playoffs start, the defenses will get more challenging. This means that teams will begin to gameplan better against Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. This also means that players like Robinson will need to step it up to help the Chiefs make it to Tampa for the Super Bowl. As for now, Robinson made a big impact in Week 16, and helped this team get their 14th win of the season.
