Real Madrid’s latest signing, Jude Bellingham has revealed the reason he joined Real Madrid in a press conference following his unveiling at the Valdevebas training ground this afternoon.
A big money deal for the Dortmund teenager was finally completed this month and a high-profile move to the Spanish capital came to reality this week.
Los Blancos paid a whopping £88.5m to secure the services of the box-to-box midfielder, a record that’s bettered by only Gareth Bale’s £90.9m and Eden Hazard’s £90m, making him the third most expensive player in the club’s history ahead of Zinedine Zidane(£69.7m) and James Rodriguez(£67.5m).
What Jude Bellingham said
“The reason why I said it’s the proudest day of my life is because it’s the greatest football club in the history of the game and not many players get the opportunity to play at such a brilliant, historic club.”
“I’m very thankful to the people that brought me here and have given me the opportunity to play for this team.”
“Money is not a thing for me, I don’t think about money at all when I make this kind of decisions, I never have, I never will, I play the game purely out of love.”
“I love the feeling I got from the club, I couldn’t hide it and I told them more or less straight away what I felt about the club and after I made my decision, I wanted it to happen quickly.”
“It wasn’t a case of the other teams not being bad, it’s just that for me, Madrid are the greatest.”
Bellignham on Ancelotti and Harry Kane
Jude Bellingham, following his high profile tranfer to the Spanish giants, would be getting the rare privilege to work under Carlos Ancelotti during his stay at the Bernabeu where he would be the seventh Briton to don a Los Blancos shirt. The youngster was so delighted about meeting the Madrid manager and had a couple of things to say about the Italian tactician.
I’ve had a little bit of contact with him and I think he’s just an incredible coach, his CV, his record, the games and trophies he’s won speak for itself really. For me, it’s a brilliant opportunity to learn from one of the greatest coaches that’s ever coached. I’m very looking forward to that and very grateful that he wants me in his squad.”
When asked about the possibility of Harry Kane joining him at Los Blancos, he replied:
“As far as the Harry kane rumours, I can’t comment on that. He’s a world class player, he’s my captain for the national team, I love him as a player and as a person and whatever happens there happens but it’s not for me to comment about.”
