All you need to know about the latest updates on Manchester United transfers, including Andre Onana’s imminent signing, and Rasmus Hojlund situation.
Andre Onana: Manchester United ‘edging closer’ to an agreement for Inter Milan goalkeeper
Man Utd’s initial offer for Andre Onana was £38.5m ($50.3m), but Inter Milan value the goalkeeper at £51m ($66.6m); the clubs are therefore working to reach a deal. Discussions on a deal over the fee are believed to have been very positive after Inter were, initially, unwilling to budge on their asking price.
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, and all parties remain keen to complete the transfer. Furthermore, sources close to the player believe there is a desire from all parties to reach a solution before Onana reports for Inter’s pre-season on July 13.
Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United have offered players in exchange for Rasmus Hojlund during negotiations with Atalanta – but the Italian club are insisting on a cash payment.
Discussions over Hojlund are taking place in tandem with negotiations over Andre Onana as United try to balance the financial commitments of both to fit into the club’s summer budget of around £100 million ($131 million).
It was in that context that United floated the idea of doing swap deals plus cash for Hojlund, with several players up for sale. Separate loans have also been mooted. At first, Fred and Donny van de Beek are available given that both will not take part in United’s first pre-season friendly against Leeds in Oslo Wednesday as their training loads are being managed.
Atalanta, however, have expressed no interest in United’s proposed players and want to receive Hojlund’s fee in full. Part-exchange deals are notoriously complex to pull off.
