Cristiano Ronaldo takes potshots at European soccer and MLS in explosive interview

Al Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo gave an interesting interview about the state of the Saudi League and his role in bringing other stars to the Middle East, while taking a potshot at European soccer and the MLS.

Ronaldo will not return to Europe

The player revealed that he won’t return to Europe and will probably retire after his time playing in Saudi Arabia.

“I will not return to European soccer, the door is completely closed,” he said. “I’m 38 and European soccer has also lost a lot of quality.

“The only league that, for me, has a lot of quality and is at a higher level than all the others is the Premier League. The Spanish league doesn’t have that quality. The Portuguese league is a good league, but it’s not the best, the best league.”

“I think the German league has also lost a lot. I am sure I will not play in Europe again. I want to play in Saudi Arabia.”

Ronaldo believes Saudi League is better than the MLS

The 38-year-old also believes that the Saudi League is at a higher level than the MLS, which raises doubts, given that Lionel Messi, his great rival, has just moved to Inter Miami.
“I will not go to the United States and I believe that the Saudi League is much better than the MLS,” he said, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ronaldo believes he is responsible for players going to Saudi Arabia

Ronaldo wants to take credit for the movement of players moving to Saudi Arabia. He believes his decision to move to the Middle East has had a transformative effect on soccer in the country.

“I knew it was going to happen because the Italian league, when I went there, was also dead and then it rejuvenated." he said.

“Where Cristiano goes it generates more interest and I knew it would be like that. I"m sure next season more stars will come [to Saudi Arabia]."
