Harden asks Sixers for trade to form brutal ‘Big Three’ at LA Clippers

The Philadelphia 76ers confirms that James Harden, who will earn $35.6 million next season, has asked to leave. He wants to play in Los Angeles, alongside Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, with the Clippers.

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Daryl Morey admitted to ‘97.5 The Fanatic’ radio that James Harden “would rather be somewhere else”, but said his franchise would only trade him for a big-name player who would keep the Sixers as a title contender. The 2018 MVP opted to execute his $35.6 million contract for the 2023-24 season before free agency, with the intention of being traded.

What Harden wants, according to NBA sources, is to become a Los Angeles Clippers player, where he would form a galactic Big Three alongside Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

Morey, who spent eight seasons with Harden as general manager of the Houston Rockets, said he is “trying to accommodate” Harden’s request, but only at the right price: “If we don’t get a really good player or someone we can turn into a really good player, then we just won’t do it,” Morey told The Fanatic.

“If James changed his mind, we would all be happy if he stayed. We’ve all heard his teammate Joel Embiid’s comments about it. But at this point, he prefers to be traded and we are trying to accommodate him.”
