Draymond Green expresses desire to bury beef with Chris Paul

Draymond Green is trying to bury his feud with Chris Paul now that they’ll share the court in 2023-24 as teammates, and he took a step toward that in an appearance on the “Pat Bev Podcast”.

Around the 30-minute mark of the episode, Green addressed his past issues with CP3 and expressed a desire to move on:

“Everyone asks, ‘How can they be teammates now?” and I’ll tell you how. First, I’ve never been in a situation where I could really build a relationship with him. I’m an adult, Chris is an adult.

“For example, we can talk between men. And I’m looking forward to it. There’s no disguising what’s happened all these years. That’s real life. People twist things around. Like, oh man, you’re in character.

“No, this is real life that we’re living when we’re playing these games.

“So going out there in front and acting like all these things are fake – like I said publicly that I didn’t like Chris before. I’m not just going to say, ‘Oh, man, that’s changed now that he’s my teammate.’ No. I’m looking forward to conversations between men. I look forward to working with another adult.

“I’ve had my share of days where I haven’t worked with adults and with people who don’t move like adults. So I’m looking forward to working with an adult. You know what I’m saying? Chris is a professional. I’m looking forward to working with a professional.

“He’s super smart and has shown himself to be a great leader.”

The root of the issues between Green and Paul appear to stem from comments made by Green during an appearance on the “All The Smoke” podcast in 2020.

During that podcast, Green expressed his unfavorable opinion of Chris Paul while acknowledging his respect for Paul’s work ethic and high basketball IQ.

Meanwhile, Chris Paul said he thought Green wanted to disrupt his off-court bond with Stephen Curry. In response, Green admitted to intentionally sowing the “discord” between Curry and Paul, motivated by his loyalty and support for his teammate.

Green had some disagreements with teammates, but he was also an important part of a franchise that won four championships.
