Jose Ramirez-Tim Anderson: Guardians third baseman reveals reason behind ugly brawl

Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson were the talk of baseball on Saturday night when a boxing match between the two caused the benches to empty at the game between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox. After the game, Tim Anderson was not available to the media, but Jose Ramirez made some comments and criticized Anderson for disrespecting the game.

Speaking to reporters about the game, here"s what Jose Ramirez had to say regarding his fight with Tim Anderson.

“I think he"s been disrespecting the game for a while. I even had a chance to tell him [earlier] during the game, ‘Don"t do that stuff. That"s disrespectful. Don"t start marking people like that because, really, we"re here trying to find ways to support our families. ‘ And when he does the things he does on the bases, he can take somebody out of the game. So, I told him to stop doing that. After he hit me really hard, harder than necessary, he said he wanted to fight and I had to defend myself."

That was the first ejection of Jose Ramirez"s career. Later in his interview, he talked more about the fact that he just wanted to play and not disrespect the game.

“I mean, even when I get frustrated with the referees, I try to take that to the dugout. I don"t want to disrespect the game. I just want to play the game."
