The New York Jets legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers almost contemplated retirement at the end of his last season at the Green Bay Packers, but a new challenge proved irresistible.
Rodgers is one of the winningest QB’s in NFL history and the 18-year veteran shared some much-earned wisdom with his new teammates.
As part of the hard-hitting NFL TV show “Hard Knocks” Rodgers was subject to intense scrutiny by celebrity host Live Schreiber and the camera crew and was heard telling a team huddle “I’m just happy to be here, excited to be with you guys.”
Coming from one of the greatest QB’s to ever grace an NFL field those few, humbling words, set the tone for how Rodgers will undertake what could be his greatest challenge.
He added, “Let’s just enjoy the little things every single day.
“Take time to laugh. Find a conversation at lunchtime with somebody new, don’t always sit in the same little group. Get to know your teammates a bit.”
Key inputs from a legend who has seen it all, including throwing close to 60,000 yards, and being league MVP two years back.
Jets’ coach Robert Saleh will be smacking his lips at the leadership role Rodgers is employing, especially as he is building a team of youth and experience.
“Just enjoy the little moments. It goes by fast and then you get to be really old and gray, and savoring every little moment,” he told his team.
“Savor them right now.”
So simple, so effective and a moment the Jets’ players will cling too when the going gets tough.
