Sports business website Sportico’s sports franchise valuations reveal the Dallas Cowboys at $9.2 billion as the most valuable team, followed by Golden State Warriors at $7.56 billion. The Cincinnati Bengals is the least valuable NFL franchise at $4 billion.
The Cowboys’ revenue of $1.05 billion for 2022 made them the second franchise after FC Barcelona to top $1 billion for a single season. It is $272 million more than Los Angeles Rams, the second most profitable NFL franchise last season.
The average NFL franchise was worth $5.14 billion. The league’s total revenue generated was $17.8 billion, from which $12 billion was through media and advertising, accounting for $375 million for each team just for showing up, estimated to be $400 million for 2023.
While the usual suspects in the NBA were the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, only one team from the MLB made the top 10 list, and that was the New York Yankees. No team from the NHL was a part of the top 10 most valuable franchises.
