Peyton Manning on “What if” moments and if he had continued playing after 2016 Super Bowl win

Peyton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL, had some interesting things to talk about during a podcast with Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr.

Manning is one of the most decorated players in the National Football League. The QB hails from a family of football players, come to be known as the “Manning Football Dynasty.” He is the second son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and is lovingly called by his fans, “the Sheriff”.

He played for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 to 2010 and then played for the Denver Broncos from 2012 to 2015, winning one Super Bowl each with his two teams. Throughout his career, Manning has achieved incredible feats and has been awarded many accolades and recognitions. His younger brother is the former NFL quarterback Eli Manning, who is also a multiple Super Bowl winner, this time with the New York Giants.

The forward of the Denver Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. has his own podcast known as “Curious Mike”. He did an episode with Manning, who has been Porter’s idol while growing up. The five-time NFL MVP, Manning talks about how his future would have unfolded if he decided to play after the 2016 Super Bowl‌.

“I just felt like after we had just won the Super Bowl, it just felt like it was the right time to stop playing,” Manning said after leading the Broncos to the title against the Carolina Panthers. “I dealt with some injuries, possibly might’ve had to go find another team to play for, the Broncos had some quarterback personnel decisions to make and I didn’t really want to go through that process again necessarily.”

With the Denver Broncos, quarterback Manning had another year left of his deal, and he was required to pass the fitness test to play in the final year. On February 7th 2016, the Broncos won the Super Bowl and Manning waited till the first week of next month to announce his retirement.

Manning was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. In 2017, he was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
