Watch: Bizarre hit as Ball Get Stuck in Light in Red Sox vs Royals game

Boston Red Sox left fielder Masataka Yoshida was truly baffled Wednesday night, after a bizarre moment at Fenway Park.

In the top of the second inning, Kansas City Royals center fielder Kyle Isbel hit a line drive that struck near the base of the Green Monster.

Yoshida jumped in an attempt to catch the ball, but couldn’t come up with it. What Yoshida, and everyone else watching, came to find out is that the ball broke the red plastic covering on one of the “out” indicator lights on the Green Monster’s scoreboard.

“I’ve never seen this here,” said Red Sox television color analyst Kevin Youkilis. “It went right in. I thought he might have put it in with his hip because he was looking for the ball, but it went right in.”

“Never seen that before, anywhere,” replied Red Sox play-by-play announcer Dave O’Brien.

Watch the unique moment in the video below.

Because the ball got stuck in the wall, Isbel was limited to a ground-rule double and Matt Duffy — who initially scored on the play from first base — was moved back to third base.
