It seems as if 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has been in a forgiving, repentant mood, after first praising former QB Jimmy Garoppolo, he has then apologized to Las Vegas Raiders’ DE Maxx Crosby.
Shanahan was quoted as saying, at a joint 49ers and Raiders practice at the Raiders facility, that Crosby is as good as it gets.
Crosby has become one of the NFL’s top pass-rushers, after joining the Raiders in the 4th round of the 2019 draft.
The DE had 12.5 sacks last season, taking his pro career tally to 37.5.
Shanahan admitted that the 49ers were "kind of [jerks] to him in our interview when he came out of [Eastern Michigan].
"He’s one of the coolest dudes I’ve been around and seen, and one of the best players in the league," the HC added.
The love was reciprocated by Crosby who said, "I feel like every single team that I interviewed with didn’t take me seriously. I can name every team if I want, but I’m not going to do that," he added.
"But Kyle Shanahan is an incredible coach. The dude is literally one of the best play callers in the game, so I’ve got a massive amount of respect for him."
He may remember any slight, but he will not be egged on despite his high-profile trajectory.
Crosby led the NFL in tackles for loss last season with 22 and signed a $98.98 million four-year deal with the Raiders in 2022.
