Former “Beard” teammate gives his thoughts on Harden-Morey rift

The situation at the 76ers between James Harden and Phil Morey is threatening to derail the teams preseason training camp, with former teammate Danny Green siding with “The Beard”.

Harden has been on record as calling the President of Operations a bald-faced liar at a recent Adidas event in China after he was pulled off the transfer market and told to report to camp.

Green, a former Sixers guard backed “The Beard” in the stand-off, despite carefully crafted words.

“As a player, I’m always going to side with the player. Not because I’m a player, but I also don’t think he is wrong,” he said.

“If he was promised something, I think you need to come through with that promise,” Green said.

Harden is looking for a move to the Clippers and has not returned for their preseason training camp.

Harden is looking for a third team in as many years and is desperate to get out of Philadelphia. Green played with Harden for six months and backs the 10-x-time NBA All-Star player and a future Hall-of-Famer.

He also does see the other side of the coin and knows a GM’s job is business orientated.

“I understand it’s a business. GM’s, they make a lot of decisions quickly in the heat of the moment … and maybe his hands are tied to this,” he said.

Harden is no doubt a matchwinner, with the former Arizona State player named as the NBA’s MVP in 2018, among many other accolades.
