Miami Dolphins wide receiver, Jaylen Waddle took a hard shot to his midsection. He was tended by the trainers immediately and there were concerns that it could be a big injury.
However, Waddle seems to have avoided a serious injury. The Head Coach, McDaniels revealed to the reporters that the player is “doing good”. However, Waddle was extracted from the team’s joint practice session. The practice was with the Falcons on Wednesday.
McDaniels has ruled out any serious injury and says that Waddle is recovering and will be fine.
He said, “It was a midsection injury. Sometimes you have guys that end up coming up with an injury in the middle of camp after having a tremendous offseason. That’s kind of what Jaylen has had from OTAs, the onset, he’s come to work and done some really good things.
“You never want to see anyone ever get injured, but he’s banked enough quality reps that I’m really not worried about his participation within the offense. (We’re) fortunate that it’s not something that will be a long-term deal, but he’s steadily rehabbing and working with the trainers, which fires me up.”
During his 2022 season, Waddle has played in all 17 games. Accumulating 75 catches for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns. He was ranked number one in the entire NFL due to his average of 18.1 yards per catch.
Waddle made an instantaneous impression in the first NFL season of his career. In 2021, out of his 16 games, Waddle achieved 104 receptions for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns. Anquan Boldin’s most reception record was broken by the wide receiver.
Waddle thrived in the last season. Under McDaniel’s offense and he had Tyreek Hill on the other side. He concluded his last season with eight touchdowns on 75 receptions in 17 starts and 1,356 yards.
Since McDaniels took over as head coach last offseason, he has been very cautious with injuries. He is not hurrying the players to be back on the field even with injuries that are not considered to be serious.
