The head coach of the Detroit Lions has all the praises for the loyal Lions supporters.
The hype surrounding the Lions has been significant since the time the Lions entered the NFL 2023 preseason, and the coach is all up for it too.
Even though the Lions have not won the Divison Championship in 30 years, this year they are have been seen emerging as the new favourites, among the fans.
Meanwhile, the Lions coach, Dan Campbell was blown away by the support the Lions fans showed at their preseason opener at Ford Field.
Campbell said, “Our fans were unbelievable the other night,”
“I mean, for a preseason game, you’re telling your young players and your rookies, ‘This is the first one, NFL game, it ought to be a pretty good atmosphere.’ But my god, I didn’t expect that. I don’t think any of them did. That’s unbelievable. That’s a packed house for preseason. It was awesome. They were using silent count on offense — in a preseason game! So it certainly helps. So that was awesome.”
The support from the fans was top-notch during the Lions opening pre-season game, and Coach Campbell mentioned that due to the excitement of the supporters they had to use a silent count on the offense.
The fans were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed the game even when fan-favourite players were not there.
According to Stephen Oh, SportsLine data scientist, the Lions winning the Division is 44.2% and making the playoffs is 62.2%.
Ironically, the Detroit Lions apparently have the longest playoff victory dry spell among all the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA teams.
However, their fans are not the ones who are going to give up without a fight, and it remains to be seen if the team has gotten it in them too.
