The Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson posted a short but moving tribute on Twitter (X) after the tragic death of former teammate Alex Collins.
Collins, a former Arkansas running back, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the news sent ripples across the NFL and College football community.
Wilson, who was with the Seahawks for ten years, and played with Collins during his time there, was understandably moved by the tragedy, and wrote:
“To one of my favourite teammates.
You brought joy to every huddle.
Keep Dancing’ in Heaven.”
Wilson further said, “Love you AC. Forever missed.”
Collings played for the Seahawks in 2016, then the Ravens, and back to the Seahawks before a 2023 switch to the USFL’s Memphis Showboats.
Meanwhile, the Arizona Razorbacks also posted a heartfelt tweet, “We are so saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of Alex Collins. He was a legendary Razorback and an even better person,” said the college’s official X page.
“We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones through this difficult time,” they added.
With 1,997 rushing yards and 59 receptions Collins made an impact on the NFL, but it is the person behind the numbers that will be missed.
