Love has no bounds implied Packers blindside protector David Bakhtiari when talking about his team’s first choice starter quarterback Jordan Love.
Love has been with the Packers since 2020 (first round 20th pick) and started behind Aaron Rodgers for three years.
The former Utah State line-caller had an effective first-preseason hit-out against the Bengals.
He landed 7 from 10 passes for 46 yards and a score.
There is a high expectation on Love, as he had been the understudy to one of the all-time greats in Rodgers for three seasons, and while he is a first starter, he is no rookie.
"He’s had three years to understand the math of the offense which is very fortunate for any first round quarterback to get to watch, "Bakhtiari said.
"And even the mechanics of throwing a football. You’re able to see that for three years and then coming in, so yeah, his baseline for me is way higher.
"I’ve seen his development in practise. I’m really excited to see it translate into the game, and him to get those game time and hours logged in. And really see how he adapts and corrects himself midgame and game-to-game," the protective Packers leader continued.
The adaption part of the game was on display against the Bengals in the preseason warm-up, with Love throwing a poor first possession away, and then completing the final four passes of the next drive.
Well, it is indeed the type of adaption and mid-game evolution that the Packers would want to see.
"He can throw the ball and do a lot of things that I’ve been impressed with. But you also got to understand that I was watching Aaron [Rodgers] for a decade.
He was not in total awe of Rodgers and said tongue in cheek that "He [Rodgers] is as slow as s—."
I’m pumped about what I see," concluded the big guy of Love.
Big boots to fill, bigger boots to impress.
