Micah Parsons injury update: Worry for Cowboys as defensive star limps out of practice

ESPN’s Todd Archer reported yesterday that Cowboys defensive star, Micah Parsons, was limping out of practice after apparently suffering an injury to his lower left leg.

Despite having to leave practice early due to the injury, Parsons said “I’m not worried about it.” As of now, there have been no signs of this being a serious injury and he was able to walk off the field under his own power.

If the injury forces Parsons to miss any time, Cowboys fans will begin to worry. He is their most valuable player on either side of the football and his absence would be felt.

In 2022, Parsons had 13.5, 13 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and a touchdown as the leader of the Cowboys’ defensive unit. He made the All-Pro first team and finished second in the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Award voting behind San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa.

Parsons is only 24 years old and already one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Cowboys selected him with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after an impressive college career at Penn State.

The Cowboys will likely err on the side of caution with their franchise cornerstone and give him ample time to heal before Week 1. Less than a month away, the Cowboys will be playing on the road versus the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football on NBC.
