Yankees fans, look away! This Stat will tell you just how badly NYY performed against the Atlanta Braves

After yesterday’s ugly loss against the Atlanta Braves, the New York Yankees record fell to 60-60. They are in last place in the American League East and 6.5 games behind the three Wild Card teams. Time is of the essence for the Yankees if they want to turn the season around before it’s too late.

The Yankees lost 5-0 in Atlanta on Tuesday and recorded more errors than hits in the game. Typically known as the “Bronx Bombers,” that has been far from the case in recent weeks. They are struggling to get on base and score runs consistently, which makes it tough to win no matter the pitching performance.

Pitching has not necessarily been great for the Yankees throughout the season either. Luis Severino, who is one of the 35 highest-paid pitchers in the MLB this season, has struggled mightily. After giving up five runs in four innings versus the Braves (three earned), Severino’s win-loss record fell to 2-8. He has a 7.98 earned run average through 14 starts this season.

If the Yankees lose on Wednesday night, they will have a losing record this late into the season for the first time in nearly three decades. The last time the Yankees had a losing record was 1992 when they finished 76-86. A historic franchise that is known for winning a league-leading 27 World Series titles, the Yankees are not used to this. It will be fascinating to see how they respond to the rough performance yesterday as they hope to get back on trap sooner than later and salvage their season.
