The Dallas Cowboys have been aggressive in their preseason approach, taking on all-comers, including themselves.
Their final padded practise of their on-the-road trip to California saw the defense squaring off against the offense in a fiery session.
According to veteran safety Jayron Kearse, "We ain’t taking no shit from nobody – all 32 teams; we ain’t taking shit from nobody," he said, via Patrick Walker of the team website.
"We’re trying to show we are the best in the business, so it gets spicy out here.
"It’s going to get spicy on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, whenever we line up, that’s how we’re going to come, "he warned.
The first brouhaha started with a fiery exchange of words Wednesday between offensive linesman Brock Hoffman and DE Sam Williams. The defense and offense piled in, but a brawl was avoided.
The peace did not last long with linebacker Micah Parsons tearing into offensive linesman Tyler Biadasz throwing at least two punches before QB Dak Prescott managed to separate the pair.
Parsons was defiant after the incident saying, "I need that, I’m here to make them better … I don’t care who I’m up against. I don’t care if its Tyron [Smith], if it’s Zack [Martin], if it’s Tyler Smith – I’m gonna beat the hell out of them," he said.
"This is where championships are started," he added.
The Cowboys are away to the Giants in week 1 and if preseason is anything to go by the New York team can expect plenty of aggro.
The Dallas team went 12-5 last campaign and lost to the 49ers after a botched final play in the playoffs.
This season there will be no botching, more like punching, and if they come out swinging anything is possible.
