Jonathan Taylor Update: In and Out the Door as Colts Rb Is “Excused”

Jonathan Taylor, the star running back for the Indianapolis Colts, has once again left the training camp to attend to a personal matter, as confirmed by the team in a statement on Wednesday.

However, this absence is unrelated to Taylor’s contract status, according to multiple sources.

After returning to camp earlier this week following an off-site treatment for his ankle injury, Taylor encountered a personal issue that required his attention.

The Colts have excused his absence and stated that he is not currently with the team.

Meanwhile, Taylor has been seeking a contract extension from the Colts since before training camp began.

When the team declined to negotiate a new deal, Taylor expressed his desire for a trade, leading to a strained relationship between him and the organization.

Despite being on the physically unable to perform list and not having played since being placed on injured reserve in December, Taylor’s trade request was publicly denied by Colts owner Jim Irsay.

However, sources indicate that the team has not completely ruled out the possibility of a trade.

Having led the NFL in rushing in 2021 and accumulating 3,841 rushing yards throughout his career, Taylor’s absence from training camp raises questions about his future with the Colts.

The team expects him to return to camp later this week, but the situation remains uncertain.
