What is the Multiview Combination for NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers on YouTube TV? All you need to know

Two (or four) is better than one, and this is the motto behind YouTube coming up with the Multiview on YouTube TV.

The split-screen feature allows fans to watch multiple games in one sitting without needing to surf through its channels to catch different matches and centers on a multi-screen experience for the platform.

This YouTube TV feature will center on a “mosaic mode,” where four mini-screens will be available on the television app to feature the games.

In its quest to provide the best sports viewing experience on TV to its fans, YouTube has added features and partnerships that help bring viewers into their favorite games — like key plays, fantasy view, 4K streaming, and NFL Sunday Ticket.

Well, for March Madness, YouTube launched early access for fans to watch multiple streams simultaneously.

During early access, members get an option to watch up to four pre-selected, different streams at once in their “Top Picks for You” section.

After selecting multiview, viewers could switch audio and captions between streams and jump in and out of a fullscreen view of a game.

“When building this feature, our goal was to ensure that it is accessible to users across all TV devices, regardless of their equipment”, said German Cheung, the engineering lead for the YouTube TV core experience team.

Without relying on end-user devices, we moved the processing requirements to happen on our side, on YouTube’s servers. It allowed all subscribers to use the feature, regardless of their home equipment, because when it’s streamed to them, their device sees only one live feed instead of two or four.

The Live team had already built a powerful compositor to enable creators to go live together on YouTube, and we had a lot of the tech required to develop this great new feature for YouTube TV.
