This new CBA rule means 76ers can block James Harden’s Free Agency if star guard holds out

The James Harden transfer mess at the 76ers is refusing to abate with a new obscure ruling in the NBA CBA impacting his stayaway from preseason camp.

Harden is deadset on moving from the 76ers, despite no concrete alternatives, no permission from the Philly club, and no bargaining chips should he remain unavailable for camp.

According to an ESPN broadcaster Brian Windhorst there is not much wiggle room for “The Beard”.

“The Sixers actually have the right to block him from becoming a free agent next year. This is a measure that was put in to prevent these type of holdout situations,” he explained.

Harden has really put his foot in his beard when earlier in the week in China he said he could never work with or for Basketball President at the 76ers Daryl Morey, calling him a “liar.”

Despite Harden’s reluctance to work with Morey, there are no viable franchises willing to take him on board, at the valuation the Sixers have put up, and his best bet could be to take the Philadelphia team to a play-off spot.

The team will hope Harden cools off and together with NBA MVP Joel Embiid the franchise could go on to enjoy a winning season.

This is not the first time Harden has pulled a similar stunt, and on two occasions he pulled the tactic off, moving away from the Rockets and then the Nets.
