Former college football icon Tim Tebow’s personal life became a subject of serious curiosity among his teammates during his time with the Florida Gators.
Tebow, who enjoyed a remarkable career with the Gators and won numerous accolades, including the Heisman Trophy in 2007, also maintained his devout Christian faith off the field.
In the upcoming Netflix docu-series ‘Untold: Swamp Kings,’ which focuses on the 2000s-era Florida Gators team, Tebow’s former teammates recall the fascination surrounding his decision to remain a virgin until marriage.
Brandon Spikes, a former Gators linebacker, revealed that he would often test Tebow’s commitment by showing him explicit photos of women.
Spikes, who won two national championships with Tebow in the 2006 and 2008 seasons, explained, “I just wanted to see if he was real. So I would, you know, maybe have a picture, a nude picture on my phone or something and show it to him just to see how he would react. He was like, ‘Come on man! Like, you really get a man uncomfortable!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, he’s serious.'”
Ryan Stamper, another member of the championship-winning teams, shared how Tebow’s revelation sparked widespread interest from the public, leading to constant questions about his personal life.
Stamper said, “I was answering questions constantly about Tebow: ‘Hey, like, is he really a virgin?’ or ‘Is he really that perfect?’ or ‘Does he really just eat and sleep football?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s who he is.'”
Tebow openly discussed his decision to save himself for marriage before the 2009 season with Florida. When asked by a reporter if the rumors were true, Tebow confirmed, “Yes, I am.”
In 2020, he married Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2017, and a South African model, and they remain together today.
