The Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden, seems to be certain that he will not be involved with the franchise for the 2023–24 season.
The guard still wants to be traded before the season begins, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, further stating that he has no plans to report to training camp.
Vardon stated, “A source close to Harden who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter told The Athletic that Harden’s plans have not changed following his mid-July trade request, and that he currently has no plans of taking part in training camp,”.
Harden’s relationship with the 76ers has come under pressure after he released the statement against Daryl Morey, the 76ers president of basketball operations.
Harden said, “Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of,”
“Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
The 76ers have expressed a desire to keep Harden and don’t want him to go anywhere, since they want the team to be at the top of their game, and are also wary to trade Harden with a deal which won’t be beneficial to any of the sides.
Harden played 58 games for the Sixers in 2022–23, averaging 21 points, 10.7 points, and 6.1 rebounds, and contributing to their 54–28 record.
Well, his performance speaks for himself, and the reason the 76ers want to approach this situation carefully.
The Philadelphia 76ers would undoubtedly prefer to have the accomplished guard play alongside Joel Embiid, who is the reigning MVP.
However, the situation currently states that it is unclear how far Harden will go in voicing his displeasure, but it seems to be pretty clear that Harden would not be joining the team’s training camp.
