Will Jordan Love play in preseason finale against Seahawks? Coach LaFleur gives update

Jordan Love is keen to earn the starting quarterback berth for the Packers’ final game of preseason against the Seahawks at Lambeau Field on Saturday.

Love has been with Green Bay since 2020 and has enjoyed a decent preseason so far, throwing 12-18 for 130 yards.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur has all but winked that Love will play against the Seattle team, and added, “Him playing isn’t just about him playing, it’s about the other 10 guys out there, just making sure we’re a cohesive unit.”

Love finished his last outing against the Patriots with 84 yards via a 5-of-8 passing record and a 19-yard touchdown to Jayden Reed.

The former Utah State quarterback went 26th overall in the first round Draft Pick of 2020, becoming the first Group-Five Conference player selected that season.

Playing back-up to Aaron Rodgers meant not much game time in the past two seasons, but he sure must have learnt plenty from the master.

In 2022, the Packers went 8-9 but Love impressed when he replaced an injured Rodgers against the Eagles in a late season game. He completed 6-of-9 for a total of 113 yards. His performance was highly rated by teammates and coaches and that passage of play helped allay fears of a Rodgers-free Packers team for 2023.

Love signed a one-year extension, worth $22.5 million (with incentives), with the QB named as the Green Bay starter.

Can the Packers bring the Love? They are away to the Bears first up, before an away outing to the Falcons in week 2.
