The Patriots will be looking forward to rising star Mac Jones to lead the team at QB this season, with the former Offensive Rookie of the Year runner-up teaming up with Bill O’Brien, who is back as the club’s Offensive Coordinator.
Jones recently stated that he is loving the vibe with O’Brien and that "[the two] are definitely on the same page and we’re building the trust."
“He’s super real", Jones was quoted as saying, continuing with, "He’s a straight-up guy, not only as a coach but as a person."
Jones is a former Alabama star and is excited to work with O’Brien, especially with the Offensive Coach bringing a concrete plan to every situation.
Both have been stars at the Clemson Tide, and there is some symbiosis as Jones was around Tuscaloosa through his pre-draft process.
"We speak the same language," Jones enthused, "He used to coach for Belichick and [Nick] Saban, and I played for Belichick and Saban."
Jones completed his rookie season with a 65% completion rate leading New England to a playoff spot.
He threw 14 touchdowns, for 2,997 yards in 14 games last season.
The Patriots take on the Eagles in week 1 before hosting the Dolphins in week 2. They will be looking to improve on their 8-9 season last time out.
