The Lightning announced they have tied forward Brandon Hagel to an eight-year deal, worth $52 million.
The 24-year-old forward enjoyed career-high stats last season, in his first full campaign with the Lightnings after being traded by the Chicago Blackhawks.
Hagel will now earn in the region of $6.5 million per year and the contract runs through to the 2031/32 season.
The Canadian professional ranked second last season in the NHL in takeaways (92), losing out to top-ranked Mitchell Marner, of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Hagel secured 64 points last time out with a career-high 30 goals. He also produced 13 power-play points and averaged 18:39 on ice time per game.
The Tampa Bay side will be looking to one better than last season, where they lost out to the Avalanche in the Stanley Cup.
Hagel contributed five points in the seven Stanley Cup playoff games last season and will be keen to add silverware to his burgeoning wallet.
He was traded in March last year, along with a fourth-round pick for forwards Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk, as well as two ‘conditional’ first round picks.
