Damian Lillard trade news: NBA Insider believes Portland will keep superstar guard until trade deadline, and here’s why

It has been two months since Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard, Damian Lillard requested a trade out of his team, with him wanting to be traded to Miami Heat.

However, the discussion about his trade-off seems to be progressing very slowly with Lillard still with the Trail Blazers..

However, analyst Bill Simmons has also shared his thoughts on this trade-off.

Bill Simmons through his podcast, "The Bill Simmons Podcast" revealed that Lillard should consider moving to Minnesota Timberwolves.

Well while explaining as to why he thinks the point guard should move to the Timberwolves, he said, "You wonder if Dame Lillard is watching this going, ‘You know what? Me for Towns. You just switch us,"

"We"d have Gobert. We"d have Edwards. It’s kinda nice. Me and Ant together. I"d be aligned with this guy who"s clearly gonna be one of the best five or six guys in the league. Maybe that’s a better situation for me than anywhere else, and I wanna win a title, and this doesn"t seem unrealistic to me. F**k it, Minnesota, I’m adding them to the list."

Simmons believes that Lillard going to Timberwolves is a point in theory but he doesn"t think the problem will be resolved any sooner.

Later in the episode, Simmons made the following prediction about Portland"s anticipated decision to hold onto Lillard until the 2023–24 NBA season.

Simmons said, "I know what Portland’s gonna do. They’re just gonna go into the season with Dame,"

"They’re gonna bank on the fact he wants to play basketball. And then they’re gonna know that a better trade will be available in December. They’re not gonna take that crappy Miami thing."

Furthermore, he also believed that better trade possibilities will open up as the season approaches an end.
