Giants great Tiki Barber apologizes for “wrong” report on Jets-Buccaneers Joint Practice

After an illustrious 10-year NFL career with the New York Giants, Tiki Barber has enjoyed a career in media/television since. However, a report he made recently on a joint practice between the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccanneers caught the attention of several people.

Barber wrongfully reported that the Jets had canceled a joint practice with the Bucs because head coach Robert Saleh could not attend. However, Jets beat reporter Brian Costello took to social media to refute Barber’s report. “This is not accurate. Saleh was at practice yesterday.”

While this may not normally be a big deal, the Jets are currently being filmed by NFL Films and HBO for their documentary television series, Hard Knocks. The show usually monitors the team selected through training camp and illustrates their preparation for the upcoming NFL season.

To Barber’s point, if Saleh wasn’t actually at the facility and had to cancel the team’s joint practice with the Bucs, it would certainly raise questions. “They are being filmed by Hard Knocks… ‘Why isn’t coach here?”

Barber went out of his way to apologize for his wrongdoings. He referred to his actions as “reckless” and later mentioned that he resolved the matter with the team after the fact.

“We speculate in this business and I was wrong,” Barber stated. Barber isn’t the first person to wrongfully report news in the media industry and certainly won’t be the last. It is nice to see him hold himself accountable for it, though.
