Reggie Chaney, the former star forward from the University of Houston passed away on Monday, aged 23.
While the official cause of death still remains unknown, no signs of foul play were suspected according to a report by the Houston Chronicle.
Despite battling multiple injuries to his hand, knee, and back, Chaney’s relentless commitment to his team allowed him to play in over 100 games, leaving a lasting legacy.
Chaney was known for his defensive prowess on a Houston team that went 33-4 last season with the forward averaging 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds on 66.25 shooting.
Meanwhile, Chaney was set to join Psychiko B.C, a professional basketball club based in Greece.
