As per latest reports, NBA has imposed a fine of $100,000 on Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden.
Well, this comes as a result of his public remarks made on August 14 during an event in China, where he referred to Daryl Morey, the President of Basketball Operations for the Sixers, as a ‘liar.’
“The NBA announced today Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden has been fined $100,000 by the NBA for public comments on August 14 and August 17 indicating that he would not perform the services called for under his player contract unless traded to another team,” wrote the league on X issuing an official statement. The league’s investigation, which included an interview of Harden, confirmed that these comments referenced Harden’s belief that the 76ers would not accommodate his request to be traded.”
Here’s what Harden said while directing his comments toward Morey in China, resulting in him being fined $100,000:
“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
Harden inked a contract worth $68.6 million with the Philadelphia 76ers last year. Currently, indications point toward Harden gravitating towards an agreement with the LA Clippers, \While discussions between the 76ers and Clippers were initiated, attempts to find common ground for a potential trade fell short.
Evidently, Harden’s remarks were likely a result of his strong emotions, given that Morey revealed the conclusion of trade negotiations and how Philadelphia anticipates Harden’s presence at the training camp scheduled for October.
