On August 17, a video went viral featuring NFL star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and rookie cornerback icon Sauce Gardner engaging in their signature gesture of mimicking smoking marijuana.
The peculiar twist, however, was the inclusion of a New York Jets water girl in the act.
Well, it didn’t go down well with the fans with one stating: “If it’s any other player the media would have a ball with this! But since it’s ARod & Suace it’s cool.”
Another one wrote, “Rodgers on his Wander Franco type shit” referring to the recent case of Rays player placed on administrative leave for allegedly having relationship with minors.
Apparently, the signature greeting originated during the New York Jets’ Offseason Team Activities (OTAs) in June, when Rodgers and Gardner unveiled a secret handshake, characterized by a mimicked smoking of marijuana.
In June 2023, Rodgers shared his unorthodox approach to both life and football at a Colorado psychedelics conference. “It’s gonna be hard to cancel me,” he said of his initial ayahuasca experience. “Because previous year, 26 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, we had a good season. Ayahuasca, 46 touchdowns, five interceptions, MVP.”
He professed an affinity for ayahuasca and attributed his peak performance during the 2021 NFL season to these unconventional practices.
