Earlier this summer, reports had surfaced that the New England Patriots made an offer for then-Green Bay Packers quarterback and current New York Jets quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Media personality Craig Carton, host of The Carton Show, stated that the four-time MVP and future Hall of Fame signal-caller vetoed the offer with his longing to play for the Jets in mind:

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked to give his insight on the reports to which he replied in typical Belichick fashion. "I personally couldn’t speak to that," said Belichick on The Greg Hill Show.
Belichick is right to an extent. Usually, trade discussions are had by the front office and executives of a team. The coach’s job is to create the best on-field product they can with the roster they"re given. However, Belichick is not like most coaches.
He also happens to be the general manager of the team. He"s certainly had his fair share of influence over who the Patriots decide to bring to the team. As the general manager, he has complete control over the construction of the roster and all personnel decisions.
After not being able to speak on the matter, he went on to say "he [I] personally didn’t talk to the Packers about Aaron Rodgers."
Even though Rodgers isn’t on the Patriots, Belichick is going to see plenty of him throughout the next couple of seasons. They are now divisional rivals who will have to compete against one another at least twice a year.
This will be a fun storyline to follow whenever Belichick/Rodgers meet.
