Shohei Ohtani new team: Dodgers President gives latest update on Japanese phenom staying in LA, but with new team

The LA Dodgers have emerged as potential options for Japanese two-way player Shohei Ohtani, with President of Operations Andrew Friedman admitting the club could ostensibly be a next port of call.

How do you say we may get him without saying you will get him.

The Dodgers won the World Series in 2020 and the West Division title in 2022 and are currently leading the NL West with a 76-48 record.

They are clear favorites to win the conference, and Shohei has been instrumental in the team’s recent success.

The Los Angeles Angels pitcher and hitter could be heading off to a new adventure, and he may not have far to travel if he has to move accommodation at all.

Speaking to John Heyman, the columnist for the Ney York Post, Friedman, who is the President of Baseball Operations at the LA Dodgers was not averse to the idea of the Japanese star joining the team.

Most club officials will say they are not even looking but after prompting by Heyman, he said, “I think obviously it is a better question for him. He has put himself in this great position.

I don’t think many people really know what the drivers are and it’s a personal decision for him, he has put himself in the ultimate position. We will see what happens when we get to the off-season,” he said rather cryptically.

On July 27 Ohtani produced a masterclass against the Detroit Tigers pitching a shutout during game 1 of a double-header before clocking two homers in the second leg.
