Watch: Drawing line in the dirt, twice? Willson Contreras and Cardinals manager ejected after arguing over strike calls

The Cardinals faced the wrath of the umpires, with Wilson Contreras being ejected during his team’s 6-3 loss to the Pirates.

The St. Louis team also lost manager Oliver Marmol to ejection in the tense affair.

Contreras drew the proverbial line in the chalk, after being struck out, and showed disdain at the call.

He was ejected in the seventh inning in this thrilling encounter before storming off and aggressively tossing the bat.

The Cardinals sit bottom of the NL Central with a record of 55-72. The conference is bunched though, and a hot streak could see any of the five sides qualify for the playoffs. The Brewers, Cubs and Reds are favorites but there is hope for both the Pirates and Cardinals.

Such is the tight nature of the conference, and the position of the two teams that the emotions got the better of both Contreras and Marmol.
