After Jonathan Taylor, Josh Jacobs to be traded? Possibility of Raiders trading RB1 explored

Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders star running backs Jonathan Taylor and Josh Jacobs are both currently holding out of training camp in hopes of resolving their ongoing contract disputes with their teams. However, the Colts have permitted Taylor to seek a trade. Could the Raiders do the same with Jacobs?

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Raiders have shown “no interest” in moving on from their talented running back. Recent reports have also suggested that Jacobs could be planning a return to the Raiders soon in preparation for the start of the regular season.

While reports hinted at the possibility of Jacobs returning, Jacobs has yet to sign his franchise tag deal and there have been no signs of a pending extension.

Despite the Raiders showing no desire to trade Jacobs, teams have been reluctant to make offers for him. The deadline for Jacobs to sign a long-term deal this season passed over a month ago, meaning any team that trades for Jacobs would possibly be taking him on as a one-year rental.

Jacobs was last year’s NFL rushing champion, leading the league with 1,653 rushing yards. He added 53 receptions to go along with 400 receiving yards and 12 total touchdowns. It was a monster campaign for Jacobs that saw him earn All-Pro honors as a result.

It has been a tough Summer for running backs in search of contract extensions. Even the elite backs such as Jacobs and Taylor cannot seem to get the financial security they are looking for.
