Former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot already seems to be taking a liking to his new team and head coach. He had his answer ready when asked what energizes him most about being a part of the New England Patriots.
Elliot highlighted the franchise’s rich history of success and winning as something that excites him. “Shoot, just going out and competing for a championship,” said Elliot. But he also had some noteworthy comments about his new head coach, Bill Belichick.
“He’s a great coach. He’s a funny guy,” Elliot told CLSN when he addressed the media recently.

Funny is not typically a word that is used to describe Belichick. He is usually a soft-spoken, mild-mannered, and monotone coach with a hard-nosed reputation.
To Belichick’s credit, his style of coaching has paid off. He is a six-time Super Bowl Champion and three-time AP Coach of the Year Award Winner. Belichick is currently second on the all-time list for most wins by a head coach in NFL history.
Elliot is arriving in New England after a season in which he recorded the lowest rushing yard output of his career (876). However, he scored 12 rushing touchdowns, which was tied for the third-most in the NFL last season. Now, he is set to form one of the league’s best running back duos in the NFL with Rhamondre Stevenson.
The Patriots are hosting the reigning NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 of the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 10.
