In a promising preseason performance, C.J. Stroud, the highly anticipated No. 2 overall pick, made his mark as the Houston Texans’ starting quarterback.

With the season opener against the Ravens just around the corner, Stroud’s limited playing time in the preseason did not hinder his impact.

Against the Saints on Sunday night, he took the field for two series and nine plays before calling it a night.

Throughout the preseason, Stroud gradually exposed his skills, playing 12 plays in the first game and 22 in the second. However, it is now confirmed that he will be leading the Texans’ offense in Week 1, ready or not.

During his time on the field against the Saints, Stroud orchestrated an impressive six-play, 43-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown. He connected with Nico Collins for a 3-yard touchdown pass, marking his first touchdown throw of the preseason.

Stroud’s performance was solid, going 2-for-4 for 16 yards, resulting in a perfect passer rating of 100.0.

Although one of his incompletions was a well-thrown deep pass to Collins, rookie cornerback Alontae Taylor managed to disrupt the play, knocking the ball out of Collins’ hands before he could secure it.

Overall, Stroud’s preseason statistics reflect his potential and growth. He completed 11 of 20 passes for 89 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

With the Texans set to officially name Stroud as their starting quarterback for the season opener, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his development and impact as he takes the helm of the team’s offense.
