It is not a stretch of the imagination to think of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott being an offensive coach one day, heck he may even be a fine head coach.
Prescott was calling the plays in the Cowboys preseason game against the Raiders and his output was top-notch.
The former Mississippi State QB called 71 plays last night and made 457 total yards on offense, with 304 passing and 153 rushing yards.
That is an impressive set of numbers for the 30-year-old, seven-year Cowboys veteran. With 0 punts and no interceptions and 3/3 fourth downs, the stats keep getting better.
Signed as back-up to Tony Romo, Prescott was called into play in his rookie season after injury derailed the starter. He went on to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, before being named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2022.
He holds 38 school records at Mississippi and finished his college days in third place for total yards and 4th place for touchdowns, in SEC history.
Prescott has always had a knack of doing the right moves, and this may soon translate to a coaching career. We know he has the passion for the game and is now being considered as a ‘student’ of the game, parlance for coaching at the highest level.
With an average of 6.4 yards per play he helped the Cowboys to0 a crushing 31-16 defeat of the Raiders. The Cowboys went 12-5 last season and will be looking for an even better win ratio.
