Noah Lyles, the U.S. track and field athlete has been in the news recently regarding his views on why NBA Champions are also given the title of a World Champion.

Well, Lyles had a brilliant outing during the World Athletics Championships, with gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Lyles in a post-game conference said, “You know the thing that hurts me the most is that I have to watch the NBA Finals and they have ‘World Champion’ on their head. World Champion of what? The United States?”

Further adding he said, “Don’t get me wrong. I love the US at times, but that ain’t the world. That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented. There ain’t no flags in the NBA,”

Subsequently, NBA players also responded and Kevin Durant in replying to Lyles comments said, “Somebody help this brother,”.

Apart from Durant, other NBA stars like Suns’ teammate Devin Booker and Damian Lillard came forward with their comments as well. The players have expressed their disagreements with the comments made by the incredible athlete, Noah Lyles.

Aaron Gordon, USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year, said, “Whatever… I’m smoking buddy in the 200m,”.

Juan Toscano-Anderson also joined the current tide and said “Last time I checked, the NBA was the best competition in the WORLD,”.
